On 25 October 2019, about 30 CEOs and senior executives representing 22 member companies, attended the CEO Meeting.
After a warm welcome by the Association President Ms. Kara Cheung, the HKAPI office briefed members the implication of 2019 Policy Address for the industry, while as Prof. John Kao, Head of the Biomedical Technology Cluster of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (STP), explained the details of new facilities and incentive programmes to attract R&D investment.
After a short break, Dr Daniel Thurley, the Vice-President of HKAPI updated the latest development of the Greater Bay initiative and discussed with CEOs how the industry could tap on the opportunity to further enhance the competitiveness and value proposition of Hong Kong, promoting the city into GBA’s leading cluster.
Ms Anny Lau, co-sponsor of the Hospital Authority Efficiency Transformation Taskforce (HAET), then briefed on the taskforce’s previous discussions with the Hospital Authority concerning logistics arrangement, such as the implementation of Unique Product Identifier (UPI), as well as members’ compliance with these requirements. Taskforce member Mr Andrew Wong and the HKAPI Senior Executive Director Ms Sabrina Chan then walked the members through the HA’s Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) initiatives and the new arrangements on the tender template.
Last but not least, Ms Pattie Walsh, partner of Bird & Bird Asia Pacific, delivered a talk entitled “Maintaining a Stable Workplace in Unstable Times – Legal and Practical Issues for Employers” to help employers tackling issues in the workplace during social unrest from a legal perspective. To end the CEO meeting, Kara introduced a series of forthcoming events organized by the HKAPI and invited active participation from members.
